Navigating Life, One Goal at a Time

Hey there! I’m Randy—a family man, soccer enthusiast, and lifelong learner. Whether I’m cheering on SVD Beaumont or balancing my studies as a senior at Lamar University, my passion for growth and teamwork is at the heart of everything I do. With graduation just around the corner in May, I’m excited to take the next step toward pursuing my master’s degree.

By day, I work as a Data Center Engineer at Amazon, tackling the complexities of technology and innovation. But when I’m not deep in the world of data centers, you can find me on the soccer field, enjoying quality time with family, or planning my next big adventure.

Bonus Reflection

BONUS POINTS! – A Reflection Discussion…

  1. If you had a magic wand, what “thing” about real-world communication law, regulation, or practice would you change? Explain why and how?

If I had a magic wand, the thing I would change about real-world communication law and regulation would be the reduction of information availability due to copyright restrictions on material that should be accessible. In other words, access to material should be as easy as checking out a book in the library, not for reproduction but for education. The internet is a great tool, and it should stay that way.

  1. After becoming exposed to the ginormous amount of communication law during your reading and this class, has your point of view about anything changed? Did you discover something of interest and importance to you? What was it and why?

My point of view has changed. I have become more aware of what is happening around me and the importance of journalism and integrity. I possess the ability to review material in the news or press critically. Fake news and its proliferation are rampant, and a discerning eye is crucial. The reason is that agendas drive some publications, which may not always serve everyone’s best interests. It is important to believe in certain things, even if they are not what is best for you, but perhaps what is best for someone else—a selfless point of view.

  1. Finally, I know this has been a bear of a semester, but what did you like/dislike about this class, me, or anything we did during it? What would you change? Was there anything missing? (Do not worry. If you tell me your class was terrible, it will not affect your grade much. I’m just kidding. I seriously want to know your thoughts, fire away.)

I was happy with how the semester turned out. It was a good challenge. I enjoyed developing the web page; it was a significant change of pace and fun. If I were to change something, it would be the requirements for the discussion post response. Just a thought limit each person’s response to one until everyone has a response in their post.
